Five Ways to Boost Your Body’s Defense Against Toxins

It’s an unfortunate fact that modern people are exposed to much more toxins than our ancestors. From processed food to cleaning products, synthetic chemical substances can find their way into our body. Each of us may already a complex mix of chemicals in our body, compared to our relatives a hundred years ago. Today, it’s nearly impossible for us to have a perfect organic lifestyle, because synthetic chemicals are around us. Even the air we breathe is often filled with fossil-fuel combustion by-products. Here are things you should do to remain healthy in the modern era:

  1. Choose healthy diet: Much of toxins that we get come from poor diet choices. Fast food, prepackaged food and canned food could contain plenty of preservatives, artificial flavoring, emulsifier, coloring agents, artificial sweeteners and other substances. If possible, you should eat organic foods. Even if you choose to eat vegetables and fruits most of the time, they can be contaminated with pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
  2. Increase B vitamins intake: DNA in healthy cells rely on the availability of B vitamins. There are many good sources of B vitamins, like whole grain bread and nutritional yeast. Many prepackaged foods are fortified with vitamins, but these vitamins are often synthetically made. One type of B vitamin that you should get is Inositol and choline. Both can help to break down any fat cell that contains toxic materials. Choline will cause bile to absorb toxic materials. Whenever possible, you shouldn’t use synthetic B vitamins, because they can damage peripheral nerve plates and cause heart arrhythmias.
  3. Increase antioxidant intake: Free radicals also act like toxins in our body, by disrupting processes in cellular levels. Damages on DNA could cause accelerated aging, degenerative diseases and cancer. Vitamin A, C and E are known for their anti-oxidative properties. Food with deep colors, such as beetroot, blackberry, dark purple grapes, tomatoes and purple yam provide you with plenty of antioxidants. Vitamin E is commonly found in seeds and fresh nuts. Never take synthetic vitamin E, because they can be toxic to your liver. The best sources of antioxidant are fresh, organic food.
  4. Increase good fat intake: Synthetic chemicals may diminish the level of EFA or essential fatty acids in your body. Your daily meal should be rich in Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. Legumes, hemp seeds, pumpkin, walnut, chia, flax and oily fish are known as the source of good fat. With balanced fat intake, you should be able to attain and maintain a normal weight. Your body needs fat intake and you shouldn’t have low-fat diet. Instead, you should choose ingredients that provide good fats. In fact, about 80 percent of your brain is made of fat.
  5. Make it easy for your body to dispose waste: Sweat and urine are two methods for removing waste from our body. You should drink plenty of water, so you will urinate and perspire more often. Incorporate more dietary fiber in your body, so your colon can work better in removing waste of digestion process.
